Overview

We are happy to announce that we will be giving out $6,000 in scholarships this year thanks to these generous sponsors!

Our Scholarship 2023-2024 Scholarship Annoucement

Eligibility

To be eligible for any of the scholarships you must meet all of the following and provide proof of these criteria:

  • I am Southeast Asian or at least one parent is of Southeast Asian descent.

  • I am a Wisconsin Resident

  • I have a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher from the previous Fall 2023-2024 Semester or most recent transcript
    **Exception: GPA criteria for the Community Leadership & Involvement Scholarship requires at least a 3.0 GPA for High School and 2.5 GPA for Undergraduate Level Students (unweighted cumulative from most recent transcript)

  • Must be enrolled to attend school Fall 2024-2025, if selected we will ask for proof

  • If selected, must be able to attend the Winner's Reception in June 2024 (Date/Time/Location to be announced when selected)

  • Cannot be a previous recipient

How to Apply

Applicants may ONLY apply for ONE (1) of the scholarships below.

As you view our scholarships, you may qualify for more than one, however, please determine which scholarship fits you best and apply to that one only. Failure to do so may result in your application being denied.

Scholarships

First Generation College Student - $2,000

Sponsor: Wisconsin United Coalition of MAA (WUCMAA)

This scholarship is focused on our first-generation Southeast Asian students who are currently a High Senior to Graduate level and will be attending Undergraduate - Graduate school in Fall 2024-2025. We define first-generation college students as meaning your parent(s) did not complete a 4-year college or university degree, regardless of other family member's level of education.  We hope that providing this scholarship will support and encourage more first-generation Southeast Asian students to pursue higher education and reduce/lessen financial barriers to being the first.

Entrepreneurship Scholarship - $1,000

Sponsor: Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce

The Entrepreneurship Scholarship is a $1,000 award for a student who has ever thought of an innovative business idea-realistic or not, and/or wants to venture into owning a business. Creating and building a business can originate from experience, observations, knowledge, or even just awareness of what might be missing in our daily lives. With this scholarship, we are hoping to aid a Southeast Asian student in entertaining the path of entrepreneurship and what they can create in the future.

  • High school - Undergraduate students (High school Freshmen - Undergraduate)

Arts Scholarship - $1,000

Sponsor: Ab Kue of RPM Bodywork

This scholarship is awarded to a current or future student who demonstrates true dedication to achieving excellence in their chosen career path. The scholarship is designed to support an individual who is passionate about a career in arts which can include visual arts, dance, music, creative writing, photography, art history, art restoration, and/or preserving the Hmong culture through artistic avenues are encouraged to apply. This is not an exhaustive list of all the Arts that students may be interested in that will qualify them for this scholarship, so if you want clarification contact us.

Criteria:

  • Eligibilities from above apply

  • An Arts Major is highly encouraged however applicants do not have to be an Arts Major but are interested or passionate about the arts (could be a minor or hobby).

  • Undergraduate - Graduate level students (High school seniors who will be undergraduate 24-25 eligible)

Social Justice & Advocacy Scholarship - $1,000

Sponsor: Blia Vang

This scholarship is dedicated to supporting individuals who are passionate about social justice and advocacy. This scholarship aims to recognize and empower students who have demonstrated a commitment to creating positive change in their communities and beyond. Fostering a deep understanding of social justice issues and developing effective advocacy skills are crucial for building a more equitable and inclusive society.

  • Undergraduate - Graduate level students (High school seniors who will be Undergraduate 24-25 eligible)

Community Leadership & Involvement - $1,000

Sponsor: XANKIA

The Community Leadership & Involvement Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to uniting a community through listening to all voices, leveraging the communities’ strengths, and being solution-oriented.  Through this scholarship, we want to promote more student leaders by acknowledging and celebrating this student leader's commitment to actively engage in a community.

Criteria:

  • Eligibilities from above apply

  • High school to Undergraduate level students (High school freshmen - Undergraduate)

  • Minimum Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0 for High School and 2.5 for Undergraduate
